To become a New York State-approved security guard, completing the required security guard training is essential. The 16-hour on-the-job training course must be finished within 90 days of employment as a security guard, as mandated by NYS regulations. Classes are held LIVE online via Zoom, with sessions scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays to complete the course in two days. After booking, participants will receive a Zoom link to join the classes, led by certified instructors.
To earn the required certification, students must successfully pass the examination at the end of the course. The exam includes multiple-choice and true/false questions covering all topics discussed during training.
Important: Before enrolling in the 16-hour course, participants must first complete the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course. You can book these courses separately or as a package deal.
After completing the 16-Hour On-The-Job Training, security guards are required to take the 8-Hour Annual In-Service Training Course each year to keep their security license in good standing.
